Mitzi the Jack Russell went missing after being chased by another dog while on a morning stroll in Woodford Green, a district of Redbridge in London, England.
Owner Alan Whitton and his friends spent two days looking for Mitzi in the woods with no success. On the third morning, Alan received a phone call from another dog walker saying her dog had been sniffing around a fox hole.
After squeaking one of Mitzi’s favorite toys near the entrance of the hole, Alan heard a faint whimper and got to work rescuing her.
“I just broke down, I was overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, I had started to lose hope,” Alan told Essex Life. “It was like a Christmas miracle, all the time it felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.”
